International Polar Year is a major scientific programme focused on the Arctic and Antarctic, running from March 2007 to March 2009 to cover the full annual cycle at both poles. Planetary Visions is working with the latest scientific data from the polar regions, adding to the range of graphics material we have produced over the years for polar-themed education and outreach projects. The images below link to some of our past polar work, including the broadcast-quality video animations available for licensed use through our Polar Science Visualisation Library.

Planetary Visions is currently producing large-format animations of the Antarctic ice sheet and Europe during the last ice age for an immersive full-dome planetarium show funded by the US National Science Foundation. We are also part of a consortium, including scientists from University College London and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, using satellite data to monitor the dynamics of Arctic sea ice, funded by the European Space Agency.
