Solar System Now in Print

The app was so good they made it into a book! Today sees the UK launch of
Solar System by Marcus Chown, published by Faber & Faber in partnership with Planetary Visions, Touch Press, and New York publisher Black Dog & Leventhal. Planetary Visions provided the space imagery, accurate planetary mapping and compelling 3D graphics. As far as we know this is the first work specifically developed as an e-book strong enough to swim against the tide and make the transition to traditional print publishing.

Planetary App Wins Bookseller Award

Solar System for iPad beat off competition in a host of new media to take the FutureBook Digital Innovation Prize at The Bookseller Annual Awards at the Park Lane Hilton in London last night. Author Marcus Chown accepted the award on behalf of publishers Touch Press and Faber & Faber. Planetary Visions worked closely with author and publishers to provide the planetary mapping, illustrations and astronomical data for this richly-illustrated electronic book.

Solar System has secured an average 5-star iTunes rating, reached number one in the Books category in 39 countries, and was featured by Apple in the iPad 2 launch earlier this month.
