SATELLITE IMAGEMAP OF THE BRITISH ISLES at 250 metres
Our Satellite Imagemap of the British Isles is based on the best images from the MODIS instrument on NASA's Terra satellite, received and processed at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), and mosaiced by Planetary Visions. Covering the UK and the Republic of Ireland, as well as the Channel Islands, Orkney and Shetland, this imagemap gives a moderate-resolution overview of the British Isles, enhanced by hill-shading based on digital terrain data. With natural colour optimised separately for land and sea, the MODIS imagery is detailed enough to show shipping in the English Channel and North Sea.
